Chiropractic care and EDS

Gentle, Supportive Care for Hypermobile Bodies

If you’ve been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) or suspect you may have it, you know how frustrating it can be to live in a body that feels both unstable and stuck. Painful joints, muscle tension, and recurring injuries often come with few answers—and even fewer providers who understand what you're going through.

That’s where my care is different.

As a chiropractor with experience treating many EDS patients, I offer gentle, customized care that supports joint stability, reduces pain, and helps you stay active in the life you love. My goal is to meet your body where it is—and help it function better, safely and consistently.

What is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)?

EDS is a group of connective tissue disorders that affect collagen, often resulting in hypermobility, joint instability, fragile skin, and chronic pain. While it affects people differently, many with EDS experience:

  • Frequent joint dislocations or subluxations

  • Pain in the mid-back, ribs, hips, and shoulders

  • Muscle tightness from overcompensating for weak joints

  • Fatigue and difficulty with physical endurance

  • Frustration from being misunderstood or dismissed by providers

Chiropractic care, when delivered with the right techniques and awareness, can be an empowering part of your care plan.

How Chiropractic Can Help

With EDS, your joints may move too much—but that doesn’t mean your spine or nervous system are functioning optimally. Many patients with EDS experience joint fixations or restrictions in certain areas while other areas compensate and become overstressed. That’s why I use:

  • Gentle instrument-assisted adjusting to restore balance without over-mobilizing

  • Muscle energy techniques and stretching to reduce tension and retrain movement patterns

  • Stability-focused rehab to support joint control and prevent injury

  • Education and movement strategies to help you feel confident and in control of your body

This isn’t “crack and go” chiropractic. It’s thoughtful, progressive care that evolves with your needs.

What Makes My Approach Different

My background in physical therapy gives me a deeper understanding of joint mechanics, muscle function, and body compensation patterns. And my experience working with EDS patients means I know how to listen, how to adapt, and how to move at your pace.

I believe in building strength—not just chasing alignment. I’ll help you explore activities you love, find modifications when needed, and develop a plan that supports your long-term stability and comfort.

Most importantly, you’ll be heard. I know how often people with EDS are dismissed, and I’m here to make sure your concerns are taken seriously and your care is truly personalized.
